(updated 6/20/2012)

-The first reviews of My Favorite Fangs: The Story of the von Trapp Family Vampires are trickling in. Here’s what Publishers Weekly had to say:

“Goldsher has devised the perfect book for readers who believe that The Sound of Music needed more caustic vomit, lesbian vampire sex, Nazi Undeath Squads, the ghost of John Coltrane, and copious lashings of gross-out humor.”

It’ll be in stores on August 7, but it’s now available for pre-order, which you can do here.

-I'm proud to announce that I'll be working with guitarist/vocalist George Benson on his memoir, Benson: The Autobiography.  The book will be published by the fine folks at DaCapo Press, and we're hoping it'll hit stores in late 2013 or early 2014.  George is a wonderful guy with stories like you wouldn't believe -- little surprise, as over his brilliant 40-plus year career, he's performed with many of the heaviest musicians of his, or any era -- and I can't wait for you all to read it.

-Also available for pre-order here is Kevin Pollak’s (and Alan Goldsher’s) How I Slept My Way to the Middle: Secrets and Stories from the Stage, the Screen, and the Interwebs, which will be on shelves November 6, 2012.

-Here’s a fun little interview (Alan-terview?) with the Chicago Sun-Times.

-You can listen to my FanDuel/NBA podcast, “Net Gain,” twice a day. The early edition features cool guests and hoops news with a fantasy sports twist, and the late edition is my advice for that evening’s FanDuel NBA contests. You can visit the Soundcloud homepage here, or subscribe on iTunes here.

-Yes, I’m FanDuel’s Senior NBA Analyst, but I’m still a ghostwriter. If you have a pop culture-oriented project (memoir, humor, film, sports, music), that might be a good fit for both of us, shoot me a note at alangoldsher@gmail.com.

-The Library of Congress cited Art Blakey’s A Night at Birdland as essential American recordings, and it has been permanently archived in the National Registry...along with an essay that I am honored to have written. It features interviews with former Blakey saxophonists Wayne Shorter and Lou Donaldson, and even if you’re not a jazz fan, I think you’ll dig it. You can check it out right here.
