-The first reviews of My Favorite Fangs: The Story of the von Trapp Family Vampires are trickling in. Here’s what Publishers Weekly had to say:

“Goldsher has devised the perfect book for readers who believe that The Sound of Music needed more caustic vomit, lesbian vampire sex, Nazi Undeath Squads, the ghost of John Coltrane, and copious lashings of gross-out humor.”

And Kirkus Reviews weighed in with this:

"What do you do with a problem like The Sound of Music? Time has made the irrepressibly catchy Rodgers and Hammerstein tale of a family singing down Nazi oppression ever more sappy and out-of-touch, [but Goldsher] delivers knowing commentary on genre conventions: the 'Do-Re-Mi' routine cleverly references acid rain and 'a dead deer that’s ready to be eaten,' characters routinely break down the fourth wall by referencing the musical they inhabit, and interludes feature other fictional vampires (Sesame Street’s Count von Count and Twilight’s Edward). Every scene is either a romp of PG-13 double-entendres or a blood bath."
It’ll be in stores on August 7, but it’s now available for pre-order, which you can do here. Media types, please contact Jessica Preeg (Jessica.Preeg@stmartins.com) for a review copy or the official artwork.

-I'm proud to announce that I'll be working with guitarist/vocalist George Benson on his memoir, Benson: The Autobiography, which’ll feature an introduction by Bill Cosby. The book will be published by the fine folks at DaCapo Press, and we're hoping it'll hit stores in late 2013 or early 2014.  George is a wonderful guy with stories like you wouldn't believe -- little surprise, as over his brilliant 40-plus year career, he's performed with many of the heaviest musicians of his, or any era -- and I can't wait for you all to read it.
