About

The format changes. The mission doesn’t.

Writer. Ghostwriter. Journalist. Editor. Musician. Story obsessive. Nearly three decades spent helping people communicate ideas that matter.

The story

Tell it clearly. Tell it honestly. Make people care.

Alan Goldsher has spent most of his professional life helping people turn experience, expertise, memory, obsession, and ambition into stories that connect.

Sometimes those stories become books. Sometimes they become articles, newsletters, podcasts, editorial systems, or content strategies. The shape changes. The work does not.

Author

Books, culture, collaboration, and the strange territory between categories.

Alan is the author or co-author of 17 published books released by Simon & Schuster, Hachette, St. Martin’s Press, Running Press, Hal Leonard, Post Hill Press, and others.

His catalog moves through fiction, nonfiction, pop culture, music, comedy, satire, memoir, and collaboration. Paul Is Undead earned a Publishers Weekly starred review and helped prove that a good idea, executed with conviction, can travel a long way.

What unites the work is curiosity: how people think, what they remember, why they make the decisions they make, and how those stories collide with culture.

Ghostwriter

The best ghostwriting disappears.

The reader should hear your voice, not mine.

Ghostwriting requires a strange combination of confidence and invisibility. You need enough confidence to shape the story, enough judgment to know what belongs, and enough humility to disappear inside someone else’s voice.

Alan has collaborated with Grammy-winning guitarist George Benson, filmmaker Tobe Hooper, comedian Kevin Pollak, Ryan Serhant, Stephanie Izard, John Salley, Robert Englund, Ron Weisner, and others whose stories deserved to be told well.

Journalism & strategy

Sports, music, media, technology, and the systems behind the words.

Alan’s journalism and editorial work has appeared through Apple, ESPN, NBA.com, NFL.com, Playboy, the Chicago Bulls, FanDuel, PrizePicks, Bass Player Magazine, Guitar Player Magazine, Drum Magazine, and other outlets.

He has led editorial teams, built publishing workflows, developed content strategies, and helped organizations communicate with greater clarity, consistency, and purpose.

Music

Music has always been part of the picture.

Alan is a bassist, recording artist, songwriter, and founder of Gold Note Records. He has recorded with Janet Jackson, Cypress Hill, Naughty by Nature, and Digable Planets, and performed at the 1994 Grammy Awards on national television.

The same instincts show up everywhere: rhythm, structure, voice, timing, and the belief that audiences can feel when something has been built with care.
